Alexis Bloom Week 04 Journal

Animation Sensation

I am very pleased with how this week turned out.  I had a lot of work to do, and managed to get most of it done.  I was tasked with refining most of the shots in the animatic.  This includes putting in the temporarily rigged models, re-timing some shots, and playblasting them out.  This week was the week I spent the most hours on SPROJ, so hopefully I can continue that throughout the quarter.  We probably won’t be rushing to put together a final animatic for the “middle of the term” production update this time.

I’m a little frustrated that a team member isn’t getting things in on time after being warned/told ahead of time.  Regardless, the work got done, and I’m happy about that.  Our group spent a lot of time working together in the lab, so it was nice to have some quality time with the other members.  We’re hitting our very strict deadlines and are headed on a good path.

Hours breakdown:

  • Advisor Meeting:  Met with John Berton to explain what we did over the week. (2 hours)
  • Group Meeting:  First group meeting after break.  Went over what we accomplished during the week.  (1.5 hours)
  • Re-timing shots:  Worked on re-timing shots for the animatic (28 hours and counting…)
  • AE work:  AfterEffects work for the animatic (2 hours)

Total:  33.5 Hours and counting…

Examples:

Some screenshots of the animatic I worked on:

Positives:

Got a LOT of work done for the animatic.

Negatives:

A member didn’t get his work in on time, delaying the animatic progress a little.  Not a lot of sleep.
