Chris Cerrone Week 02 Journal

Chris Cerrone

This was quite a busy week for me in terms of senior project. Between last Monday afternoon and Friday night I worked primarily on the getting an entirely new animatic out, using the rough environments Avery has been working on and the block characters we used previously as stand ins. I also recorded a bunch of scratch audio with my brother to have them in the story and get it one step closer to final dialog. Working in the labs right next to Avery proved to be a huge help, as we both could get instant feedback on ideas and work, and it even helped me think of a better sequence of events for the end of the short. I also spent a few hours working on the script, trying new things to see if they could get the same points across either more effectively or more quickly. Once the new script was updated I made more or less an entirely new shot list to start working off of. The animatic still needs a lot of work since there’s little to no animation in it, just staging and blocking. On top of that almost all the shots still need text descriptors added to them to make them read. On the bright side the Janitor model is ready to start being rigged and once theres a base body rig in there we can start blocking him in the shots he is part of and even start getting him close to a pop through. We wont be able to meet with Berton at our usual time so I’ll get feedback from him in person tomorrow to know how to move forward with the animatic in ways other than what I listed. Over all it was a very productive week for me.

Hours Breakdown:

Meetings: 1.5 Hours:

Managerial/Orginization & Shot List: 6 Hours

Animatic: 20.25 Hours

Script: 3 Hours

Janitor Rigging: 2.75 Hours

Total – 33.5 Hours

Positives: Got a lot done, a whole new animatic, a whole new defeat sequence which I feel plays better, and working in the labs with Avery turned out to be highly beneficial.

Negatives: Animatic needs more work to read, and overall just really needs characters in there that can emote in some way.
