Week 02 Team Journal

Chris Cerrone

Overall it’s been a very busy week as we push to reach our planned pop through by the end of the month. Over the last week Zack has continued to retopologize the janitor model and now has it ready to be rigged and can move on to finishing the sculpt of the Super Hero and then retopologizing that. Alexis has been concepting costume ideas for all the characters over the week, and we have chosen which ones we want for the Mad Scientist and Janitor and have narrowed the costumes for the Super Hero down to two. Juan put together a few concepts for the goo bomb and bee gun and has been updating the bee gun with each round of feedback before modeling it. The goo bomb has been modeled and rigged and just needs to be UV Unwrapped before we texture it. Avery has fleshed out the reactor room and entrance way significantly, as well as designing and modeling the doors that will be used throughout the base and the main reactor door, which is larger and more imposing than the other doors. Lastly Chris worked on blocking in all the shots in Maya and getting a rough timing for the scenes so that in the following weeks the two main animators (Juan and Alexis) can use those scene files as a starting point and have an understanding of the pacing of the shot and the position the camera will see it from. While there is still a far way to go with getting the three characters rigged in time to put them in a rough pop through, we are confident that we will hit that deadline by the end of the month. Now that all the layouts of the environment have been roughed in and locked down all animation that needs to take place in them can be iterated on with the block characters, and then the articulate model characters. We were unable to meet with our advisor at our regular Monday time, and will be meeting with him tomorrow night for additional feedback.

Positives – Janitor model ready to be rigged, New Animatic, Environment progress coming along swimmingly, props are getting through multiple concepts, and costumes are narrowed down.

Negatives – Animatic still needs text in most shots to read better, there’s a lot of work on Zack that most people cant help with until the models reach a rigging stage.
