Working Hard or Hardly Working

 

This was a fairly average workweek.  Nothing terribly remarkable happened.  Firstly, I had to finish the rig of the superhero since I didn’t completely finish it last week.  I finished the second half of the face and added all of the necessary SDKs.  I weight painted the face and edited some of the existing weight paints on the arms to make them look a little smoother.  That took up more time than I expected and I hit a few bumps along the way, but everything worked out in the end.  He needs one more pass on weight painting, but other than that he’s good to go.

The other half of my work was spent working on roughing in animation.  The mad scientist model and rig was finally finished, so now I can plop him in to the missing shots and begin animating him.  Scene07 has him fully integrated, and scene04 is being worked on.  Things are going smoothly, and I’m enjoying the animating.

Hours breakdown:

  • Advisor Meeting:  Met with John Berton to explain what we did over the week: (2 hours)
  • Group Meetings (dailies 3x a week):  Went over what we accomplished during the week: (3.5 hours)
  • Animating:  Roughing in animation for sc07 with the mad scientists: (12 hours)
  • Rigging:  Finishing the super hero face rig, added sdks as well as weight painting: (15 hours)

Total:  32.5 Hours

Positives:

Got a lot of animating, weight painting, and rigging done.

Negatives:

Some issues with the face rig, but they were worked out.
