Alexis Bloom – Looking Ahead

 Looking Ahead

As someone who wants to work on kids films, I think initially, we all want to work at the big places… Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks… you know the ones.  As much as I would like to work for any one of these companies, I’ve been trying to stay realistic.  I’d honestly be happy working anywhere as long as I’m getting paid for animating.  But hey, a girl can dream can’t she?  My expectations haven’t really changed since I started at Drexel.  I never wanted to let myself down by having high expectations of companies I wanted to work for.

As much as I’d like to work for those companies, I can reasonably see myself working as a contractor for a while.  Character animation is my passion, but not a lot of people are hiring for that.  I want to become a well rounded animator, so I’m looking to gain as much experience as I can.  I worked for a medical animation company over co-op, so I can see myself going into the field of medical animation.  It’s not really what I want to do, but it’s something I can see myself doing.  If not that, I’ll figure something out.  My goal is to throw my resume and reel everywhere and see what sticks.

As I said before, it hasn’t really changed.  If anything, I’ve gotten more lenient on where I want to work after I graduate.  I just to be happy with what I’m doing.  Finishing Drexel’s program has given me a lot of insight into the industry, so it helped shape my future goals.
